The best description so far is that it will be a crapshoot. Were it in a cutter top it might have a better chance of surviving with some grace. My experience with Virginias of that age is that they're generally pretty nasty. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

The only thing like this I’ve come close to is a packet of Old Holborn cigarette tobacco from the Queens Coronation in 1953. I opened it about ten years ago and it pretty much fell to dust. I still have it though. image.jpg

I can't imagine it'd have kept well in just foil or wax paper, but I'd probably pick it up just for the novelty if it wasn't too expensive.

It’s a crap shoot. A couple summers ago a few of us did a testing on 6 different 50’s vintage UK blends.
All were in terrific condition. They ranged from sublime to really no taste at all.
