It's useful to distinguish between an addiction and a habit. One is physiological, the other is psychological. Don't let language do your "thinking" for you, because then you're not exactly thinking. Real thinking takes effort. Sloganeering isn't thnking. What is your real fear concerning smoking? Cancer? Bankruptcy? Self-absorption? Loss of sex appeal? Yellow teeth? Bad odors? Rejection? Derision? Ostracism? That might occur. I rode a Harley for a few years, and sometimes before I got on the bike I thought of how I might be dead before the end of the day - then I mounted up and enjoyed the ride. I didn't later sell it out of fear but out of monetary need; and if I ever can afford to, I'll buy another. Fear can be prudent, and it can be debilitating. You have determine what sort of fear every fear you have actually is. Then make a self-informed choice. Don't let other people's fears determine your own.
