Title edited for caps and brevity. Rule 9.

I have my eye on a pipe that is 4.75 inches long, but I typically don't prefer pipes less than 5 inches in length. I am not a clencher. I have two pipes at just under 4.9 inches, and two at 5 inches. All four of them seem very small, but they had enough character to get into my collection.

I'm sure the 4.75 inch long pipe will feel very small, but the shape, finish and sandblast are excellent, and I don't have anything from this carver. For these reasons I keep mulling over the idea of purchasing it.

Just curious why those of you who prefer smaller piper prefer smaller pipes.

Weight is the biggest issue for me as I'm a clencher. I look for 30 grams or less.
That usually leads to certain sizes and types of pipes.

My two smallest are a 1907 Loewe and a sandblasted KB&B Rocky Briar that I refer to as a "crab apple".
The Loewe is 3.9" and 16.7 grams.
The KB&B is 3.5" and 17.8 grams.

I have a lot of sub-5 inch pipes
I like their more compact looks

The shorter length make them easier to clench, though I’m not a clencher usually.
Lovats are a case in point

I have a lot of ancient pipes, and they tend to be smaller than their modern day counterparts

Note that shorter does not translate to smaller bowls.
Peterson makes a Short Series with normal sized bowls

Here are a few of mine
