EDIT: Fixed Capitalization in Title (See Rule 9) - Bob

Alright lads, I need the group to lend me some knowledge- the spouse has been out of town for the past couple of days so I’ve taken it upon myself to hang some artwork, clean some closets, and lastly, install an inexpensive pipe rack I picked up off the bay. I like having a wall mounted pipe rack since space is a premium. The storage cubbies are a plus, and this does alright, but I’m looking for that something better. A rack that holds the pipes a little more securely, or at least with wider stem cutouts and deeper bowl divets to better fit the variety of pipes I have. So, with that said, does anybody have any recommendations? I’ve looked online at places like Etsy and whatnot, but nothing’s really stood out, or if they have, they are well beyond what I would want to spend on a rack (~$180 max). Thank you all.

My wife gave me a gift certificate for a Two Cousins custom made rack, right in the middle of her hip surgery and rehab, so I ended up loading it up and taking it to her rehab bedside and setting it up with all the pipes. That soon filled up with briars. Then my sister found my dad's pipe rack inherited from his dad, so I inherited that, ten pipes and an amber jar with lid. Then I bought a freestanding 16-pipe rack, and finally my wife gifted me with a wall-hung 42 pipe cabinet. So you see TAD is a problem. But the pipes look pretty happy, are out of direct sunlight, and are handy all around my study. There's air circulation and easy reach. I think it would be hard to smoke this rotation with the pipes put away any more than this, in drawers or otherwise shut away.

The pipes in my active rotation are in a number of standard pipe racks; the stem up-bowl down style.
I have others in original boxes or sleeves or bags that are stored in a cabinet.
And... then there are a few dozen in a tote awaiting restoration. This last group feels like a guilty secret because they have been awaiting restoration for 15 years.

I have a man's armoire and I put all of them upright on these types of plastic stands inside: best way to save space. I have to have the pipes inside something because we have many cats. If I laid the pipes on their sides I would need a whole room I think unless I stacked them up which I wouldn't think is optimal.

I personally wouldn't want all my pipes exposed to light all the time. Sunlight through those blinds is going to oxidize one side of the stems.

I wouldn't either but the blinds are almost never open and there's a covered patio on the other side of the window so there's not much sunlight exposure. I also hedge my bets and use obsidian oil on my stems.

I use individual stands for most of mine. Found some great stands that hold a variety of shapes and sizes well for a great price on a website.

That’s really nice! But where do you keep the good stuff like Ripple, MD 20/20 and box wines?

I have wondered.. what the hell is in obsidian oil? I don't know if I want to eat it.
