I was on a roll - 4 days of HIIT at the local gym before the pandemic hit. Then I stopped cold turkey, working at home, getting my exercise from walking to the refrigerator, mixing manhattans and keeping my local restaurants in business with take out orders. Working from home meant sweat pants and a collared shirt (zoom only sees you from the chest up). I got on the scale in August and I added my COVID-19 pounds plus a few more.

Luckily, my gym took over a parking lot, erected a large tent and re-opened for outdoor workouts. I've been back at it since September 1st. It's much harder to regain fitness when at 61 than when I was 21!

This is my ride, a custom built Specialized Roll. Designed for touring, gravel crunching, and beach cruising. That's a custom Brooks leather saddle, and I have a full touring bag outfit for riding rails to trails and camping along the way. I've got other touring bikes, mountain bikes, street bikes, and vintage bikes, but this one is the one I grab for everything nowadays. I can set upright, or click the bars and lay down in the wind. I can and have ridden it all day long, and it's a comfortable ride. It even has a granny gear for making pedaling up hills easy peasy. I've ridden the Chief Ladiga and Silver Comet, camping twice along the way. Mrs. Cosmic and I keep planning another tour along the Gulf, but we keep getting older. Maybe next summer.

Thank you to the guys who wished me well, it is appreciated. I always ret to remember there a billions of people who are worse off than my self. I am not looking for my next bowl of rice, but my next piece of Sea Bass or Swordfish, big difference.
I was in a wheelchair for weeks after I broke my hip, smashed it up bad. Then I had to move to a walker for a few months. It is very trying, and demeaning at times. Hang in there. Do what the doctor says, and don't punch the rehab guy in the face... they don't like that, apparently, and they'll make you pay for it, ha ha.

Get this man a swordfish!!!

I was ALWAYS fit when I didn't have a car and walked mostly wherever. I wish I could go back to a bike or on foot. Distances are a bit to far for where I travel.
Yeah I understand that! When I was young, single, and lived in a warmer province, I had my driver's license suspended due to stupidity for a couple years and got in great shape walking to and from work and just being active outdoors year round.

Where I live now some parts of the year are below -30°, it takes an hour or two of driving to get anywhere, and I also now have a van load of kids, animals, and accessories that I can't carry on foot.

I've been a fat boy most of my life. Last fall, after a particularly bad doctor's appointment, I decided to try one last attempt at getting into shape before submitting to bariatric surgery. My weight was 324 pounds.

I started with a low-carb diet and then started going to the gym. Weight came off quickly at first, then slower. When the gyms closed because of the virus, I decided to try to run. At first, I couldn't even make it 1/4 mile without stopping and feeling like I was going to pass out. But as time went on, my stamina improved. Now I'm up to 5 miles a day at a jogging pace. I try to get out there 5 days a week or so. I always hated exercise, but I loved the way I felt afterwards. Now I can even appreciate the act of running. My weight is 196. It's just been wonderful.

I've started allowing myself to cheat on my diet on weekends, and may eventually ditch the diet altogether. At this point I don't care if I lose more weight, I just want to continue toning my body. The big challenge for me will be keeping up with the exercise. Eventually as things continue to open up, I'll need to find more sports and activities to keep me moving and motivated. Maybe I'll take up tennis or racquetball (is racquetball still a thing?) or something!

You Rock!!! 5 miles, I would need to be dragged up my front steps after that. 220 is the max I've ever been, and i can drop to 198 pretty fast, but each pound after that is earned the hard way for me. I am holding fast at 190, but I'm afraid that that is because of not having any weight training. As Muscle drops, my weight drops too. I really am anxious to get back to the gym and start working on my upper body more. But, then starts the scales to teetering back and forth on me as I do.
As I've said, I use how well I can see my junk more than actual weight, ha ha.

Ha! I know I've been desperate to lift weights again myself. I'm at the point now where I want to add some muscle. I still have some left but my skin is a bit loose and droopy around my chest and obliques.

I'd also like to do some yoga since the flexibility seems like it would be helpful as I progress in middle age. I was going to Planet Fitness before the shutdown but maybe I'll check out The Y or the local rec center. Both places usually have classes.

I'm a small scale veggie farmer. So that's a healthy dose of excersise during the growing season. I'm not much one for working out, I'd rather be getting stuff done and working out at the same time, another reason why I love the farming lifestyle. Winter months can get a little lazy but, it doesn't get too out of hand. by the time spring rolls around I'm forced back into shape.
