How Do You Know When Summer Has Arrived?

When the school year ends and the kids terrorize me and the home more than usual.

I know it is summer when the lovely melodies of multiple lawn mowers, leaf blowers and power washers echo throughout the neighborhood from early morning until dark every day destroying any hope of enjoying quiet time on my porch.

My economy pilsner of choice with Pabst Blue Ribbon being a close second. It's about $15 out the door for a 30 pack (including the Michigan deposit) and I typically have one on hand.

I also enjoyed the light version, which was recently discontinued.

The aroma of coconut suntan lotion and cute girls on the beach are a giveaway that Summer's here.
Ice Cream trucks of course, and Farmer's Markets.

It was a sad day when push reel mowers faded into History. That was a delightful lawn mowing sound especially at the end of a run when the reel free spooled until stopping, Also the smell of cut grass wasn't competing with the stink of exhaust from the Briggs & Stratton

One of them got in tonight, exactly the same as top picture (female), and parked itself on the lace curtains above the back windows ... fortunately I had an empty glass 2 quart masson jar I bought for tobacco with a hinged lid and caught it and returned it outside to the back of the yard. They have a hard time getting a grip on glass and don't get out easily. I suspect it wanted to be caught and returned to the wild as there are no bugs in the house to eat ! Summer is here !
