I feel guilty about not getting up early, hear the damn lawn grass growing and fall asleep on the mower, no excuse for not doing repairs from winter, endanger from being arrested for to much clothing removal, fish don’t bite until eve, bugs are hell. Most of all the flavor of the pipe is poor. Other than that it’s a great season.

I just moved my Christmas-present birdhouse realizing I had forgotten and put it on a tree that is too close to the air conditioner and its noise, and it may have been too close to the window with its lights and motion as people and cats move around.

I put it on a tree across from the front of the house, slightly higher. I'd be surprised if we get a nest this year, though some birds do nest for a second brood, i think. We'll see what happens. The birds definitely inspected it before the a.c. came on regularly.

By the way, bluejays are in the Corvid family, like crows and ravines. That surprised me when I learned it.

When the amount of noise pollution increases...lawnmowers, trimmers, dogs, kids, Harley's. I enjoy the peace and quiet of winter. Many complain about winter, not me.
I can relate! I love a cold calm winter night. A walk in the woods and the only sound is from my own footsteps. No insects, no frogs...just pure beautiful silence. I particularly remember the winter nights when I lived in Michigan. I had 10 acres of land, heavily wooded. Once I went out during a heavy snow but the winds were gentle. Giant flakes. As they fell I could hear them hitting the dried oak leaves that had not fallen. Such a sound.
