Usually around August, when it stops raining and the sun comes out...
Today, the new baseball glove for my grandson arrived. His season is over. Hitting lessons begin on 6/13.
Like yourself, I'm also in the UK - I usually know it's summer when the Met tell us this will be the hottest summer on record, followed by three months of cold and rain.

I had a summer holiday in florida in 2010. Had a great time but the heat was hard to take. I am in Scotland, and have done a Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion of what I consider hot. Hot is anything above 64F.

Just learned this past winter that robins don't always migrate south.
When the strawberry season ends. Just got three pints from our favorite farm stand, which is actually in town on the highway in front of a retirement community. They filled the car with sweet berry fragrance, and even more so the kitchen when I got them inside. We had a big bowl for dessert with supper. They are at perfection. Now they'll get a little less good, and then be gone. Then it's summer.
When the amount of noise pollution increases...lawnmowers, trimmers, dogs, kids, Harley's. I enjoy the peace and quiet of winter. Many complain about winter, not me.
