How and Why do you Clench?

I like to hold the pipe without my hands. As telescopes says, just like when you smoke a cigar. Although I haven't tried smoking a pipe yet, when I'm taking a shit. At the end you get a special blend of aromas, depending on what you had for dinner the night before. Besides, who now reads the newspaper and smokes while taking a shit?

Clenching just seems a natural way to smoke a pipe for me. I rarely have my pipe in my hand. Smacking a corner with the pipe has become a real hazard for me. I really enjoy smoking while I cook, paint, read, and play video games. I'm clenching a pipe while I type this.

I do, probably half of the time.
Found I was marking the step so got those little rubber things to protect it, seem to work ok but probably not for everyone.
I'm British so my teeth are a bit wonky! so the tip of the step sits comfortably in one of the gaps.

Gotta have a place to put your stuff. Like right now. Hard to type and hold a pipe. So it's either clenched or in a holder. Like readers. They get put everywhere and there's really no rhyme or reason other than convenience. My tombstone will read Where's my pipe, my glasses, my keys, my phone, my...

I never thought twice about clenching a pipe until my tooth broke. Got a nice cap fitted and I’ve haven’t clenched a pipe without thinking again. Pipe smoking has never been the same since.

I clench, but I have to have the bowl perfect..moved and adjusted to be smoked....it has to be aligned with the stem
