I have always dedicated my pipes to certain genres and to specific blends. I have found I get more flavor doing it this way and I have enough pipes to keep a good rotation going.

I only have one last ghosted English pipe which is the first pipe I ever bought. It is a nice Savinelli, and it sits. It also has an acrylic stem which I don't do. I keep it more as a keep sake.

In the end I like to dedicate blends to a pipe/pipes. I have tried this in certain pipes and the blends to me get better in a dedicated pipe. For now I smoke anything with a smidge of latakia or flavor in a dedicated pipe and straight VA/VaPer/Burley in other pipes. The cob I have I smoke MB Classic Loose Cut in, the cob smells like a vanilla cake, there goes the myth cobs don't ghost.

I smoke whatever in whichever pipe I choose, except aros. I tried dedicating to genres, but I'd forget which pipe goes where or I'd want to smoke a certain pipe and a certain blend and just chucked the whole idea out the window.

I don't smoke a ton of Latakia anymore, but when I do it's the same rules as above. My next smoke might have the faintest ghost of Latakia, but oh well. I can deal.

It's not that I don't believe in dedicating pipes will enhance flavors etc...it's just that I don't wanna.

For the longest time, I've had only two pipes, one for aromatics, one for everything else. I'm about to receive a 3rd one courtesy of a most generous forum member, which will be my new "everything else" pipe. It's only going to get Burleys, VAs, VaBurs, VaPers, and anything else devoid of Latakia. My old everything else pipe will handle all English, Balkan and Scottish blends as my new official Latakia pipe.

You might notice Lakeland blends are conspicuously absent from the above. That's because I feel the same way about them that @ashdigger feels about the Washington Capitals. I loathe them like the vile, infernal, offensive poison they are. :) (the blends, not the hockey team)

Granger is so clean it loves all of my pipes. You’d never know it was there. Pegasus either. I have only one blend that ghosts and that’s Crooner. But I enjoy it’s ghost which burns away after an bowl or two.

Ghosting is a problem for some. I get it. I loaned a Kaywoodie to a non-pipe smoking friend for a couple of years and it came back smelling like a candy store and still smells aro sweet. He saturated it. Shame.

2022 ??
I don't have an issue with ghosting, and I never dedicate. Or...maybe I always dedicate. I only smoke Burley blends. So it comes easy for me. ?

I dedicate for Latakia (a meerschaum, a briar, and a cob) and St. Bruno (a meerschaum and a cob). I don't smoke a lot of aros. I have a cob dedicated to Nutty Irishman, and I just smoke Vanilla Roll Cake in any undedicated pipe.

My pipe collection is at a size where I think I'll be able to dedicate a few pipes to blends in the near future.

@cigrmaster Please school me on acrylic stems, sir.

I don’t dedicate, because I have a lot of blends, and I
always buy something new, that I haven’t determined if one blend smokes better in any particular pipe.

I don’t smoke Aros, but I do smoke Lakeland blends, but I don’t dedicate for them either.

@Carol when it comes to ghosting, how strong a particular blend, either ask on the forum if anyone knows, or smoke a bowl and see.

Either way, if something ghosts strongly or lightly, just smoke one bowl, then the next time around, smoke Burely forward blends or Latakia blends for a few bowls and you’ll smoke the ghost away.

I'll only smoke aromatics in two dedicated pipes and I have one pipe that only gets HH Vintage Syrian. Other than that they are all fair game, although there are a few that lend themselves well to flakes so that's mainly what they get.
