Interesting pipe Paul. James Upshall has been selling a number of these Countryman pipes, many with the inset CP piece.
If anyone is going to Chicago, and has a Countryman, please ask the Charatan collectors group for info on this shape, I've uncovered very little as to it's origin, name, etc.

this one came from Dean @ http://www.estatepipeshop.co.uk/ Al

I am assuming from 1961-1977
The CP till the 1960 is very fine, the C penetrates the P.

From 1961 to 1977 the CP logo is more pronounced and the C penetrates the P.
however if someone knows more I would be interested to know
please remove link if in appropriate

Ah, nice, Dean is a good guy and does great restoration work.
I haven't been able to date those pipes with the inset single piece "CP". Perhaps Ken Barnes will see this and chime in. Most Charatans have the stamped CP. I meant to bring mine to the NY show and ask Dennis Congas (aka "Mr. Charatan) about the pipe and those stampings and insets. Hopefully I'll bump into him at a future show (he'll be in Chicago, but I won't).
