Thanks Bob I’ll give that a try too. I’ve heard of Elizabethan Mixture-do they still make that?
there was a review of Elizabethan mixture on this site recently. Not on the forum but from the guy that does reviews for the website. Kyle I think is his name. I am not too big on reviews of pipe tobacco more, but it sounded like something that goes on the long list of don't forget about that one on your next order. Yorktown is by Cornell and Diehl who generally seems to get mixed reviews here. And honestly their stuff is all over the place probably they have the largest roster of blends I've seen (though no freaking coins, which is my favorite presentation of pipe tobacco). Honestly I smoke mostly Macbarren and then C&D is my second most smoked brand.
And oh of course you know that Dunhil blends are now Petersons (I assume you do, but any chance to trick someone into thinking I know things I'll take.)

While my wife is part north-of-the-mason-dixon and part Texan, I am 100% Texan from the Texhoma region and am passionate about the normalization of beef brisket as America's national barbecue.
What the heck man. Are you trying to be derail this thread with that last line? You know how crazy people are about regional barbecue. Well as I've said before I am willing to be one of thee official judges of which barbecue is king, of course we'll need lots of samples lots of samples I mean we'll have to make sure that when I declare an across the board tie that I made the right call.

Welcome from California. I have a lot of family in Roscoe. Many summers spent at the Apple River. Great looking pipes.

Welcome ?
Lots of good Virginia suggestions given by others already... A few more (Most of them easily available). Also, while all of these are Virginia forward, some have Perique, Orientals, Burley etc... added for more nuances.

1. Reiner Gold Blend 71
2. Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake
3. Capstan Blue
4. Astleys No 44
5. Watch City Old Dominion
6. Cornell & Diehl Opening Night
7. Cornell & Diehl Sunday Picnic

lol well some people say I look a lot like her! anyway she is a bit of an inspiration...let’s face it there’s not a ton of girl pipe smokers out there...I’m an aspiring artist (painter) so it’s a little easier for me to ‘get away with it’...Actually I started because I was looking for a healthier alternative to cigarettes, and one day I said ‘what the hell-I’ll give pipe smoking a try!’ I really love the process of smoking, it slows me down a bit, which I need!
I have no idea who her is but I am going to assume you're her. Of course I also assume that Sam Elliot is here under two different screen names soooo... Hey any where we can see these aspiring arts?
Oh and pipes are insanely safer and healthier then cigs. One of those memories that has stuck with me over many years would be the first time I had to run somewhere and I only got out of breath instead my lungs feeling like they where on fire (three months after the last cig, never gave up pipes).

Welcome from Sarasota Florida. I give recommendations in two categories, one is the hard to finds, the others are readily available.

The Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake is a bitch to find. It is one of my top 3 favorites and I stopped buying at around 215 tins. The way to find it is to begin looking in the low tax states and just keep calling and calling the mom and pop stores with no internet presence. Nothing else you can do. The Capstan Blue Flake I have over 150 tins and that is readily available at all times. I have never seen it go out of stock. The Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug is another favorite of mine and it is a bitch to find just like the Wessex. If you can find Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky grab all you can. Mac Baren Old Dark Fired is easy to find and is a really great blend. Peterson Flake and Peterson Navy Rolls are both worth checking out. If you want something strong for an after dinner smoke, try the Peterson Irish Flake. Use tobaccoreviews.com to help you find a lot of favorites. Look at what people like and use people who have similar tastes.

If you ask the questions here you will get some good answers from lots of people. You will need to figure out who the smartest guys are and then you will find who the pikers are. We have some of the most expert people in the world at this site and I am not talking about me. Jesse for example is the worlds most expert on Barling pipes. Jguss I believe is the expert on Dunhill pipes. George D is the most renown expert on pipe repair. H won't even look at a repair job if it doesn't cost at least a couple of hundred bucks.

My expertise is selling bridges to the unsuspecting.
