Welcome from Washington state. Yes, I have been in that smoking room. Unsurprising that even then the man of the house was confined to one small space by his wife. Fortunately, my wife is not so intolerant.

It's not evident that she confined him. There is indication that this was the smoking room for everyone, and that she hit the sticks every now and then.


You can put your location in your Profile—(please!—because people will forget!) That will save questions in the future as to where you live when you later mention local stores, weather, tobacco prices, availability, regulations, location of photos, wildfires, air quality, etc., etc..
Under your avatar, (top right, left most of three symbols) you choose "Account Details", which brings up "My Account". "My Location" is halfway down. Whatever you're comfortable with- town, city, county, state. Just country if you must.

Welcome from central North Carolina, U.S. I was greatly tempted to take the boat trip to Vancouver from Seattle, but time didn't permit. So many coastal cities have become impossibly expensive. Real estate is like that, if we'd all emptied our pockets decades ago. I guess real estate investment is not a subsistence expense.
