Howdy everyone, I'm Austin. I've been lurking here a bit and figured I'd join. I dipped my toes into the pipe world about eight years ago and really loved it, but for whatever reason didn't keep it up. This year I got it in my head to pickup some tobacco from the local shop in Portland and instantly remembered why I was so enamored. I'm excited to learn as much as I can and have the beginnings of a cellar underway. I tend to lean towards english/balkan blends, but I think what excites me most is all of the different tobaccos that are out there from all over the world and how they come together in a blend.

Anyway, I look forward to getting to know the community and gleaning some of the knowledge that is shared here!

Hello from Kansas City! I was the same. Some friends and I started in my early 20s, and then I picked up a few years later after a neighbor reintroduced me to it.

Welcome from Tucson, AZ! I grew up in PDX, in NoPo right off of Rosa Parks Way (though it was named Portland Blvd when I was growing up). Left 20 years ago to go off to college in the midwest and haven't returned, except for a 5 month stint living in an awesome apartment on NW 21st, although I visit my parents who still live in the same 1904 Craftsman on Delaware Ave about once a year. Love that area, and it will always be home to me.

I spent my HS years hanging out downtown and walking past Rich's, loving the smells coming out the door. I think that's one thing that attracted me to pipes and cigars.
