Sartre, Russell, Ryle, Austin, Moore, et al. It occurs that there's something about philosophy that lends itself to pipe smoking.
Hi Mike,Thanks @sablebrush52 ... just used a simple drinking alcohol soak (rum) to clean overnight a whole bunch of my pipes, and after wiping and cleaning, it's like a new experience. Clean, and pure smoke. (Is what I did ok?) I will take and heed your advice. It's a craft-hobby...
Thanks a million for the ref to Esterval's. I didn't know it. It's now on my list of purveyors. All the Rattray's and Gawaith's I want are out of stock -- I'll have to keep on the look out. They have a bunch of Rattray's; I'm thinking of Buckingham -- what do you think? As far as HU goes, what would you recommend I try?
Where down here in SoCal can we smoke pipes -- know of any good lounges? How about the best tobacco shops? I found one down in LA here: Tobacco Trader - Home - https://www.tobaccotraderla.com/ -- but their tin prices are way overpriced compared to the 'Net (almost double what I can find elsewhere online). Any suggestions?
Yes -- I seem to have an instinctual avoidance of relighting the pipe, but I need to learn to put it down, let it cool, and relight. This might be part of my issue. Lots to learn!
I really appreciate your taking the time to write back with so much great advice. Happy Piping!
@anotherbob I haven't a clue: something about a barrel, a lantern, public nudity, or a dog ... maybe John Bull, but that's not clever enough...follow up question what blend would Diogenes smoke? And yes there is at least one correct answer, maybe more.
