I had a friend who needed some work and was handy with woodworking. I hired him to build this pipe rack many years ago. I gave Him the basic concept for the pipe rack, however he was not a pipe smoker and there are some design flaws that I have identified. It works for storing pipes, but not ideal.Thanks. My 14 pipe one is just 2 tiers of the one in photo. I have a store bought one for 6 that, to your point, doesn’t really let you see the pipes. I have some others in the “thinking stages”. Ate there any you have found that may offer me some ideas.
I never attended any cigar gatherings. I smoked nice cigars, belonged to a lounge/club in Westerly. Never got that hooked.I do lots of woodworking and so the pipes as beautiful objects hooked me. That plus buying my first pipe from the Peterson store in Dublin - a natural finish Watson. Now at 40+ and counting. But then why count? When my wife asks how many I own I can truthfully say I don’t know. Enjoy the sunshine in Florida.Welcome from officially Boston but now of course with one leg in the grave I live in Florida. Did you ever attend any of the big Hartford herfs when you were all about cigars? We may know each other. Of course everyone knows my cigar name and I am even cooler than David Bowie, but I will still allow you to speak to me before your first 1000 posts.
Oh yeah, cigrmaster is not my cigar world name. That was just my first aol handle. My name in the cigar world was The Master.

It holds 21 pipes and as you can see there are some extra cobs stashed along the sides and the storage area. I have another pipe rack that sits on my smoking table that holds 4 pipes. Here is a picture of my current large pipe rack.

BTW, I posted some other rack pictures, but they are further down in the stream. Not sure why. I have never used an internet forum and still feeling my way around.I had a friend who needed some work and was handy with woodworking. I hired him to build this pipe rack many years ago. If you look at the bottom row, the horizontal piece of wood that is supposed to hold the stems is placed to high up and too far forward. As you can see, it limits the pipes I can store on this row. My shorter, bent pipes won’t store there.Fr

I know the issue. Almost have to have the tange of pipes in hand. Any way to take the piece where the stems go out. Then could just route out back of this slots. If you look at the bottom row, the horizontal piece of wood that is supposed to hold the stems is placed to high up and too far forward. The top and the middle rows horizontal support wood for the stems are also a tad too forward. This creates a precarious balancing of the pipes in the rack.
If I can match the stain on the pipe rack, I may take a Dremel or other sanding tool to remove some material and re-stain them? The goal is move the slots back slightly therefore increasing the angle that the pipe sits and shifting its center of gravity back.
That’s a good idea. I’ll have to check out the feasibility of that option.I know the issue. Almost have to have the tange of pipes in hand. Any way to take the piece where the stems go out. Then could just route out back of this slots.
Hey nice to meet you. I'm in CT as well. Also a big fan of Peterson, and Savinelli. 2022 is the year of the Artisan Pipe for me thoughI had been a cigar and off/on pipe smoker for about 20 years. About 3 years ago, I dug out a Peterson Watson that I bought in Ireland some years back. About 3 years ago I was smoking some Barclay Rex Maravilla sitting enjoying a warm summer's evening. I got hooked. The cigars and accessories have been to distributed to my friends who haven't seen the light. That one Watson has grown into a collection of about 50 with a huge emphasis on Petersons. Studying pipe history, making pipe racks in the shop, and smoking while working on my philosophy. Loving it all!
That’s a whole realm I know nothing about. I do cruise through the listings on smokingpipes.com. They run from classic shapes to really wild free form. Any specific types or makers that you’re collecting. In general how do they smoke? Where are you in Ct?Hey nice to meet you. I'm in CT as well.
