Welcome. And thank you for your message. Happy Xmas season to you as well! Edward's are packing up today and tomorrow. Went there this morning and caught up with folks. Ended up buying a Bjarne that I had been eyeing for a year :)
Lucky you! Wish I could be there, just to see if there were any Drew Estate tins hiding in a back room somewhere. Kudos on your Bjarne score. Went out and had a bowl of Moontrance yesterday in their honor.

Great to be here. I am a novice when it comes to pipe smoking with hopes to learn from you all and enjoy my small set of pipes. Growing up around pipe smokers and their homes, everything about tobacco, pipes, cigars, and the smell of tobacco in smoking rooms makes me nostalgic. My first pipe was a gift from an uncle. A Kiko with a meerschaum lining that he bought for himself when he lived in Africa. I also have a Radice and a W. O. Larsen that I bought from my dear friends at Edward's Pipe and Tobacco, a decades old local institution, that it saddens me write, closed for good yesterday. The camaraderie that friends of Edward's brought to their afternoon smoking sessions was quite wonderful to experience. I wouldn't be surprised to find a similar camaraderie any place that pipe smokers gather, be it in-person or online in forums such as this!

I look forward to reading posts, learning from you all, and contributing to the extent I can. Thank you all and best wishes.

Yo vish - welcome from near Philly. I remember when the pipe club used to meet in Sam Jose at Mission Pipes on Alameda. I never synchronized my visits to kids in the Bay Area to make it to the meetings at Edward's. Too bad since it would have been a good chance to meet up with MartyP. I did get up to Marin several times to tap into the Golden Gate PC at Telford's. Bummer to hear about this Edward's.

Greetings from Texas. I lived in San Diego from ‘91-‘93 and commuted weekly from Texas to Long Beach in 2016-2017. Long Beach was literally a pipe tobacco desert. I hope you are able to obtain tobacco there with little difficulty.

We have an Edward’s Pipe and Tobacco here in Tampa, Fl. I absolutely love the place. Welcome aboard.

There are a few tobacconists left around here. I think I may have to go online going forward.

Mission Pipe Shop is still around. I will go visit them. Thanks for the pointer. Rick, Cal, Bill, and others who used to meet at Edward's are now planning to meet in Palo Alto going forward.

Pam Pam is long gone is what I read. But here is something from a page on places that no longer are around in San Francisco. Thanks for sharing those memories! Best.

Edwards used to make Iwan Ries house pipes, in their Benton series but stamped Iwan Ries, in oil-cured Algerian briar, of which I have a few. IR has long since sourced its house pipes elsewhere, currently from Genod. It sounds like you have a good pipe rotation. I always learn something on Forums. Welcome aboard from central N.C.
Thanks for the erudition. I had to read up on oil-cured Algerian briar and Iwan Ries! The latter being around since 1857! Amazing! Thank you!

Welcome from the Central Coast of California!

Too many shops have closed up in N CA in the last five years! We still have three in Carmel-Monterey, but only one is worth while for higher end stuff.

Right on brother! My mom and aunt were raised in Santa Clara. My mom was the first female to ever work for Togo’s sandwiches back in the early 70’s up there. Lol I was born and raised in Monterey county, in a small country town called Prunedale.
