Just started a beginner pipe smoker. Been smoking cigerettes for 9 years and want something new to smoke and get into. My mom ordered me a gift of a stanwell serling smooth 246 pipe and tobacco of peterson night cap and early morning pipe tobacco and plum pudding seattle pipe club. Those three tins with that nice brier pipe is what im starting with. Can you guys suggest anything different i could buy to start with?

Howdy from Idaho. Welcome to the forum!

I recommend trying some C&D Pegasus, burley blend and C&D Yorktown, Virginia.
You can’t beat a Missouri Meerschaum Cob pipe for a inexpensive, great smoking pipe. Enjoy!

Welcome from New Mexico. You can also get a Missouri Meerschaum corn cob and maybe order some tobacco by the ounce from a seller such as smokingpipes.com. Burley blends will probably give you the nicotine you're used to with cigs. I've tried a blend called Shandygaff and it reminded me somewhat of Camels.
☝️☝️. When I quit smokeing, I tried aromatics which were good but didnt really stop my nic cravings. But the early morning from peterson is a good starting smoke. If you want try Old Joe Krants from C&D. I've mentioned many time how old Joe got me off the stogies. Very much like a cigarette a Lil strong if you inhale to get that cig feeling but with a filter you'll be just fine. I never used a filter but it might help. And Hello From Santa Fe, NM.

Welcome to the forum. I'm in Chicago now but I grew up just outside of Boston in Stoughton. My Dad and my sister are still there. I get back there a couple of times a year to see them.

There's a place called Wilkes Tobacco in Fall River, that will be a really helpful place to go. There's also L J Peretti in Boston.

I'm still in my first year of smoking, so I probably shouldn't even give advice but this is what I've learned so far. It's good to try out some of the more popular blends from the four main categories of tobacco; English, Virginias, Aromatics, and Burley blends. If I could do it over, I would pick one or two of the most popular versions of each and see where you lean towards. Your tastes will also change over time so be ready for that as well. Good luck!

Welcome from Central Texas.
Some inexpensive pipes to add include Dr. Grabow, Kaywoodie, Mexico and Carey Magic Inch. WVSmokeshop carries the first three, an EA Carey Tobacconist is the source for the last one.
I imagine you would like some inexpensive shag cut Virginia blends, which you can find made by Sutliff and Lane in bulk, so you can order 1-2 oz. to try.
As far as burleys go, I always recommend Granger to a new pipe smoker, or if you desire a much stronger burley, there is Old Joe Krantz and the redoubtable Five Brothers.
Enjoy the hobby, and cheers!
