Up until recently, I would only smoke the occasional cigar a friend would hand to me. I would smoke it while saying if I were to actually take up smoking, it would have to be a pipe. I still remember the aroma of my grandfather's pipes and it seem to suite my nature. So here I am. Setting my a campfire in the Talladega Wilderness with my brother, I lit up my first pipe. To start off I bought a couple of nice, shiny pipes from recommended names but it hasn't taken long for my love of restoring old pens and things to jump to pipes. There is just something satisfying about setting back with something I have brought back to life myself.
I lurked here in the shadows for the longest taking in the sage advice and experience and would like to thank the community who helped get me going in a good way without knowing it.
Thanks

Welcome aboard from central North Carolina. I like the occasional cigar, but you can't beat a pipe. You actually handle the tobacco. You can mix blends. The pipes themselves are works of craftsmanship, sometime art.

Hey, how have I missed this post. Another Alabamian, and a fellow camper. I love the Talladega Forrest area, especially Mt Cheaha. I've also done some turkey hunting out that way, back when I had patience and time.

I'm in Helena, and hang at The Briary occasionally. If you haven't heard of The Briary, check it out. It's one of the largest pipe shops in the US, and it has a huge selection of high end pipes. And, a great selection of tins. Tell them Cosmic said hi, if I am not in there when you visit.

I'll see you in the threads.
