Hey guys and ladies, I am obviously a new guy here. So I guess a bit about me and my pipe smoking history is inorder. I started smoking pipes about 10 years ago, but due to my lack of knowledge about it I found it a bit awkward. Therefore I have bounced back and forth between pipes and cigars. I like pipe tobacco better and find keeping cigars to be a pain. Ok now to my point I like my pipes and am glad to have found a place to help me to maximize my smoking experience without tons of trial and error.

I have two pipes both briar wood, niether are very expensive. The one I use is only about a $50 pipe. The other is abit more but less enjoyable. I made a pipe out of pipe stone but can't find the stone bowl (I hid it from a drug addict.........I guess I hid it too well). I bought my wife a pipe this past weekend. Its a meerschaum ladies pipe (very elegant and quite, sexy I might add). I would love to know more about tobaccos, and pipes even.

I go to a tobacco and pipe shop in rice village to get my tobacco..... The blends they have in the glass jars, I know nothing about name brands.
When I started it was because I was into cigars but a friend smoked black cavandish and I loved the smell. So I started with the same. Now I smoke a tahiti blend and have a blend called english 101. I do prefer the clean taste of these blends (suggestions on others will be taken).

My pipe that I use regularly had a broken stem so I had to search long and hard to find a match. I found it in a cheap drug store pipe I would also love to find a nicer stem to use as well.

My first decent tobacco was a black cavandish. I still enjoy it. There are just so many blends to suggest. Keep reading the posts here and see what others like. You can't go wrong with a corncob pipe also.

Welcome aboard. There's a lot of expertise here so fire away. One resource you hear about is tobaccoreviews.com. There are thousands of blends reviewed and it is a handy reference when you want to know more about a blend mentioned here. There is also a review page on this site.

So kick back and join in the fun.

In the left hand column of this page, just below the "Member Login" box, you will find

a "Search On Site" box. This will find keywords in the many articles published here.

For example, keyword meerschaum will ultimately direct you to a fine 3-part series

by Fred Bass, starting with "The Meerschaum Pipe Experience". The left hand column

of this page is also pretty handy for links to Bob Tate's excellent set of how-to articles.

Yeah, this is like a pipe university. Lots of courses. Just wander around the "campus" and you'll find a host of interesting information.

Welcome aboard. Replacement stems can be done by any competent pipe repair shop. Norwoods seems to have a sterling reputation. Check our excellent sponsors for decently priced pipes. Above all have fun and enjoy the site.

Check out Ebay - if you want to add to your collection. I got a lot of wonderful pipes for under $10 - $20 bucks. You would be surprised at the gems that are out there - that just need a good cleaning. P.S. if you go on Ebay and bid use the Auction Sniper - it will give you an edge to win the pipe of your choice.
