Should I leave the Heinrich tobacco in the paint cans or should I jar it up

If the tins are sealed I wouldn't worry about it.

I recently got my first Heinrich tins and was wondering the same thing. They will at LEAST sit until next Spring....I don't smoke a pipe in winter. Im gonna risk it I think.

I think it’ll age in them well but I did not know I’ve only been doing this a little over a year niw

My own experience with paint can tins is good.some people have said they're not reliable long term. I don't think there's any issue with them working for a year. If you're looking at 5 to 10 years, perhaps transferring the tobacco to mylar or a jar would be wise.

I’ve never had a problem with the HU paint cans, even after several years. They also re-seal well. If the Heinrich’s are similar I wouldn’t worry.

Note: the current HU tins available in the US won’t re-seal like the paint cans.

In my experience, the concerns over paint can tins is overblown and likely based on assumptions rather than actual performance. I have decades old Poul Olsen My Own Blend paint can tins and they're still fine. In fact, the lack of a rubber seal which tends to degrade over time and collect tobacco fragments when opened makes them better than all other tins for resealing. At least that's my experience. All tins may eventually fail, though.

I've never had a problem with aged paint can tins. Earlier, this year I opened a year 2002 Reiner Long Gold Flake tin. The tobacco was still moist and fresh. I haven't had a problem with older HU or Heinrich's cans either.

Heinrich tins and HU have one thing in common at that is Kopp. I could be mistaken.

In my limited experience I think they work fairly well.

I believe they will age well in the tins after some research
