Clays are at around a $7 price point (for the less fancy jobbers, at least).
I pay more for a pint of beer around here.. So, if broken...meh

Admittedly, I smoke a cob while working in the yard, in this heat/humidity....so I can be hands free.
After spending $10k recently on my teeth, I'm not clenching a clay ?

The thing isn't so much that they break it's more I've had ones break after only getting two or three smokes from them. If you include the cost of the pipe per smoke into the cost of the smoke a clay can put a bowl into cigar territory. If I could guarantee I'd get seven or ten smokes out of a clay I'd be a bigger fan. Also if I had more good places to sit and smoke clays would become more appealing.
