Probably not, make it on Oahu instead.
I hear that, though the foot traffic would be great in Oahu I was thinking it might be cheaper to set up in Lahaina since hopefully once it was known that we could send parcels to the other Islands that might be what keeps the shop afloat.

Lahaina has an extreme amount of tourism going through it, especially given Front Street in Lahaina, as a big tourist attraction area.

So for Tourism Lahaina is great, not so great for Locals.

Having a business in Lahaina essentially cuts off the rest of the island locals, if you don’t know it’s location on the map have a look.

Locals don’t drive to Lahaina to shop, if they do, it’s a very rare small percentage.

Someone that wants to also target tourism, has to remember tourists are going all over the island.

Kahului is the center hub of the island for commerce.

Lahaina is also extremely expensive, compared to many other places on the island.

A B&M in Lahaina isn’t practical, especially if you want to target the local market.

All the big shopping areas in Kahului would be more ideal, where locals and tourists shop.
Thank you for all this information. It's been a minute since I was there and we lived up country, and I would want to serve the locals and the whole endeavor would only work if we could ship tobacco to all the Islands from the storefront.

Some of the most restrictive tobacco states are red. It’s not a party issue. Look at Utah and South Dakota for example.
I see your point but rather than a "we know what's best for you" mentality the red states are more like " we know what's best for us" Again I have no problem at all with people voting not environmental lobbyists forcing for no online tobacco coming in, it's the P2P that seems outrageous.

Even that I don’t think Is accurate. If my understanding is correct, Utahs policies are heavily driven by the large Mormon population which is very anti tobacco. So there’s a conservative state enforcing policy around an ideology.

At the end of the day, all sides are fighting against tobacco for some reason or another.

Mormon influence is definitely seen in the alcohol laws in Utah. I wouldn’t be surprised if that influenced the tobacco laws. This is less of a conservative legislation, albeit in a conservative state.

Is it illegal to knowingly ship to Hawaii? If not, you might want to give an address and wish list in case we want to visit, and if you got a package in the mail you might want to reimburse us for our troubles if we just can't make it to Hawaii. Just sayin.....
It’s not illegal for the sender, just for the receiver to knowingly recieve.

Yeah. Sounds good to me! As long as parcels could be sent within the state, I think it's a great plan. Lahaina has plenty of tourist traffic with all the hotels on the west side and locals alike too. If you need any boots on the ground, I'd be happy to help you. A B&M would be great for the pipe smoking community out here.
