I use the Czech or a pipe nail most of the time. I've got 2 or 3 custom ones and they are not as functional as the cheap, simple ones.
Pretty much whatever is at hand. Namely a finger, although I have a cheapy China made one that I will someday use.

I find a Rogers pipe knife to be the most useful.
Even use it to carefully ream chambers!
