I use a Kiribi mainly but foggymountain was right in saying just use Bic’s. You can buy a case on ebay at discount and in the end it is reliable 100% of the time.
I was going through a lot of matches. The Lotus allows me to point the flame which for me is appreciated.personally I hate bics. You can use them and they're fine but I find anything else easier for me to get a good smoke. I think matches are perfect for initial lights. Almost too easy to get a even light with one.
I use the matches to get the pipe started and then the zippo for relights. One nice thing is a match doesn't get too hot if it takes a while to get it going it just shrinks until it burns your fingers.I was going through a lot of matches. Yes, the finger burning was getting old also.I use the matches to get the pipe started and then the zippo for relights. One nice thing is a match doesn't get too hot if it takes a while to get it going it just shrinks until it burns your fingers.
Good way for me to spill my makingsWhen I smoked in the house I loved kitchen matches for lighting my pipe, now that I smoke outdoors a lighter is more practicable. I usually use a BIC, to avoid burning fingers I turn the bowl sideways when lighting and draw the flame in, this seems to work pretty well for me. If your a BIC guy give it a try, practice makes perfect.
So, lighters have a rotation of their own?In somewhat of a random rotation (based on my mood meter) I have a couple Corona Old Boys, Xikar "Old Boy" clone, a couple Pipeliters, & coming soon a Dunhill Rollagas. Kitchen matches for when all else fails.
Usually the one to be least finicky on any given day or weather condition, least likely to need filling or bled get the call. As I said, based on my mood meter. So, lighters have a rotation of their own?
