I smoke in my living rooms. I’m in comfortable surroundings with my pipe stuff at hand in either place. I have a big Morris Chair in WI and a big Stressless Chair in AZ. They’re very different and it takes a few days to break myself in when I go back and forth.

I remember with my first wife, I did not yet know the world of pipes, I smoked with her in the bedroom. While we read a book, I smoked cigars. She didn't mind me smoking anywhere in the house. She liked the smell of cigars. Now with my second wife, I only smoke in my room where I have my desk. Here I have the corn pipes, as this area is warmer, and the pipes dry quickly, however the sealed tobacco, like the one I use for rotation, sleeps in a built-in cabinet in the room that never gets the sun, so it stays cooler.

Here's mine. Our enclosed back porch/mud room. The only thing that is different today is that I added an additional Thomas Jefferson bust (I have two now) and I have a pillow to sit on. I'm still looking for a better/nicer cabinet to replace the white one.
I have an electric heater for the cold winter days.

I smoke in my partially finished basement man cave. That's where I store all of my tobacco and pipes as well as my guitars and amps and my work desk. It's a very comfortable spot with tv and recliner and my vinyl collection and record player. My wife and I are looking for a new house with more land now and I'm thinking a detached man cave will be necessary.

I have confiscated my side of our attached garage for my smoking pleasure. There's days when it's dang cold as it's not airtight around the doors, but I suffer through it. puffy That's 5 days a week after work and it's dark.

On the weekends, and when it warms and the light is lasting longer in the evenings, I enjoy being out as much as possible.

But I have to say, smoking in the absence of a breeze can enhance many a pipe and blend, reducing effort and increasing pleasure.

I do dream of smoking a pipe in front of my fireplace sometime.

Maybe a gentle blend when my wife's gone and I can open up the house afterward and blast the attic fan to clear out the residual ............. maybe she wouldn't find out!

That must be very difficult for you. My sympathies ?
