Well, I gotta say that HB is now my go to blend. My first true all day blend. I've always hopped around between the Burley flakes, and until HB I hadn't realized that I have never smoked 2 bowls back to back. Not anymore. Right now this is all I smoke, and I got a pound of the stuff. Loving it! Still smoking BF1 and 3 here and there, but HB is my bread and butter now!

I agree it’s good stuff. I rarely smoke it , but every now and again I’ll go on benders of it. Always have a few tins around.
I prefer Old Joe Krantz but still keep plenty of Haunted Bookshop around. Between those two I'm set for when the occasional burley itch strikes.
Haunted Bookshop is Mrs. Rookie's overall favorite pipe tobacco. It's the only one she asked me to light in her car. The fact that it's so burley forward is a great bonus for me.
HB is one of my all time favorites. If you like that one, give Billy Budd Blonde a try. It is similar but has more depth to me.

I received a tin of HB about a week or two ago and haven’t gotten to trying yet. After reading this it has been bumped up the list of blends to sample lol.
It’s a good one. If you like HB, you should also give Old Joe Krantz a try. You may like it better, you may not, but they have some similarities without being the same blend. I keep both on hand.
OJK is another blend I have a tin of but haven’t gotten around to smoking yet, I’ll smoke them both in the same day so I can compare.
Funny that this thread should come up. This last weekend I opened a year old tin of HB and smoked 2 bowls. I rarely do that. Usually one bowl a day is enough of any certain blend. This stuff is good and can very easily become an every day smoke. Gotta give OJK a try.
OJK is less forgiving of a faster cadence than HB is. If y’all are about to try OJK for the first time, it really needs to be smoked super slowly to get the most out of it. I suppose the same could be said for any blend, but it’s especially true with OJK. Smoke it fast and it’s nothing but rough edges, but slow down and it’s a great blend.
I keep OJK and HB around, and smoke them both roughly equally. Too much HB, I like to add the kick/spice of OJK, too much OJK, I like the slightly milder HB. I consider them nearly the same. Sometime I should try mixing them and see what the 'medium' blend is like.
I've never bought HB or Old Joe Krantz bulk. I wonder if it's different. Either way, I can see it being a go to blend.
Yes! OJK is a "sipper". That's important I think.
? I’m just the opposite, I’ve never bought the tins! If C&D offers something as bulk, I go that route every single time.
Well I'm obviously doing it wrong! haha. -- I'll try the bulks next order. Neither are blends I'm trying to age, so no need for the tins, even 8 oz.
I can’t say as to whether there’s any difference or which is better. I just buy bulk because it’s usually cheaper that way.
If that's the case then I'll try HB first... I'm only a few weeks past a 30-year cigarette habit and still admit to some lung sampling...
I enjoy OJK pretty frequently, @cosmicfolklore has described it as a VaPer on steroids and I have to agree. Tasty stuff though
