I use a hard glasses case for my pipe and tobacco. A little bigger than most it was for my Bobsters I wear when I ride my motorcycle around town. For a churchwarden, look at Walmart or your local grocery store for a Lock and Lock container or a Rubbermaid container. There is usually a small flat one that is 8-10 inches long. Usually transparent so you can see what's inside.

quest complete, purchased http://www.altex.com/Platt-Blow-Molded-Tool-Case-105-x-7-x-3-207-P143635.aspx for $14 bucks at my job
I have looked inside and I could fit roughly 2-4 pipes plus enough tobacco for a whole day of smoking, along with pipe cleaners, matches and a tool

Has anyone tried to test fit how many pipes fit in those pistol cases? (Seem to be 8x10). Pipe size of course would be a consideration.
This ones 10.5 x 7 x 3 and I am pretty sure I could about 6 savinelli rhodesians in there

Well, I dunno. The Official PipesMagazine.com Pipe Tote has been pretty popular with the guys on here...

If you want more protection, for a buck more, you can order it with a crumpled back issue of the Tampa Bay Times.

I'm really digging my new case for travel. It is a little pricey at $79 but it works great for me. I am very happy with it. I can fit about 15 or 16 decent size pipes in it. It also comes with the perforated block foam(as seen in a post above) that you can shape and customize for exact fit but I didn't go that route and opted for the included egg carton foam instead. I keep my Meer's and English/Lat pipes on one side and my VA/VA blend pipes on the other.
