Welcome from the general vicinity of Ellicott City, from a weird whose most frequent pipe-music tunes consist of the Savoy Operas and Stan Rogers.
When I indulge in metal I lean toward Nightwish, and older groups (Sabbath, etc etc). Though I did treat myself to the discography of Birthday Massacre for my birthday last year, which I'd describe best as "Underwater Canadian Goth Music" (I don't know how they do it, but most of their stuff has a subaquatic/dreamlike quality to it).
With your metally, folksy, dark baccy attitude, might I recommend you the blend "Dreams of Kadath"?

Welcome from the Pacific NW. Not bad on the pickin'. Sabbath, Metallica and every once in a while, a little Slayer is all nostalgic. Listen to a lot of classical piano and classic rock mostly these days.
