Really our "silly" little embargo"? You gest. It has kept Cuba a third rate backwater country for sixty years. Have you seen the poverty in that country?? They would be better off if the Mafia was still running the casinos there. No one visits Cuba for tourism any more, If we were to open the borders they would be overrun with Yankee dollars. We're the only country that can help them and they turned to other countries instead. It hasn't risen to a blip on the radar screen to us but to the Cubans it has been a major barrier to any kind of progress

Back in the day again, we had lots of tourism a few years ago and of course due to the rona we aren't shuttling anymore travel there. I do like those big leafy cigars though and that is about it. I wonder what other crops they can cultivate in Cuba better than other places the way tobacco does

Yes, once all teams realize that a topic has a nuclear option, the kids just start playing with it, getting ridiculous. In our final flights, I instructed all of my PF teams to cry, ha ha. Just cry when you draw the Pro side.
For my LD’s, I told them to go Crit on it, and debate the morality of even debating the topic. I can’t remember how we scored, but we always take home at least on trophy.

My take on this is that you're good at being argumentative. Who would've thunk it?

I wasn't impressed with Cuban cigars. And embargo is a joke. Bay of Pigs was an embarrassment.
Whenever we go to the Caribbean I come back with a box of Cuban cigars and honestly, the quality has declined greatly. At the same time, other regions are making killer cigars. IMHO, not many Habanos can stand up to the likes of a Padron 1926 with Maduro wrapper out of Nicaragua.

There is a big difference between arguing and debating. An argument is a verbal battle between people, a debate is only ever about the topic. puffy
Right. An argument is a series of statements intended to establish a position; whereas a debate is a regulated discussion between two matched sides. I never fail to learn something useful from Monty Python.

If you're purchasing "Cuban" cigars while traveling in the Caribbean, there's a high chance they are fake. I haven't detected a significant drop in the quality of authentic Cuban cigars. If you're smoking fakes, then yeah, there would be a huge drop.

The US is no longer makes the world safe for democracy. But in that heyday, Cuba made our backyard Red, earning the Embargo to contain that spread.

So no one will touch lifting the Embargo lest they be judged soft on Communism and disbelievers in the American Way.

Now, if I remember correctly, you can bring back a limited number of sticks. I was surprised they even let people vacation there now.

I had a roommate in college who’s father was imprisoned in Cuba, for illegal exportation in his fishing boat. He was picked up by Cuban officials with crates of Cuban rum. But, he didn’t seem stressed about it. His father had been known to do things like this.
I have done this returning to the US from flights coming from China, Mexico, and Spain, with Customs finding my stash and confirming the same. The customs agent said "Cubans, nice choice!" and wished me on my way.

It's also on the customs website.

Unless it has changed recently, you can now bring Cuban cigars inn from out of country. Quantity is ambiguous.

Exactly. Fakes are everywhere and finding their way into more hands.

By the way I'd like to recommend this film, Cuba and the Cameraman, on Netflix. I hate typing on a cellphone so I'll be brief but the wife and I found it absolutely heartwarming. It was about Cuba, yes, but quickly transcended into something much broader and universally human.

I know the fake ones (and my family members have unwittingly purchased them for me twice). These are real, sealed package, with correct pressed into the box stamps and Cuban seal and barcode.

That's a big hack for the gift shops at the airports in Mexico...all fake maybe yeah, last-minute grab and customs will not be happy to see them if anyone gets checked, never bring them back to the U.S. in a carry-on, likely too late if you've checked your bags in lol.

BTW, I'm sure plenty of forum members know already, but you can order cuban cigars to your doorstep from a variety of international sites for cheap... They'll even refund you if the package gets taken by customs.
