Gosh, there are so many of y'all that I'd like to have dinner with - I'm gonna skip that. There would be enough for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and plenty left over for a nightcap.
But as for The Famous Smokers:
General George S Patton, Jr. - One of my greatest heroes, and from all reports a warm, engaging individual.
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien - Just to hear the stories.
Clive Staples Lewis - He would have to be seated away from Tolkien, though, so I could get his viewpoint on a couple of matters.
Graham Chapman - He and Tolkien would be great conversation, but Chapman and Lewis would have little in common.
Who is not invited:
MacArthur, since he was a gold-plated SOB, and Lincoln, because of that whole War of Northern Aggression, and Stalin, because a million deaths is a statistic. Those are the only pipesmokers that I probably couldn't get along with.

I can assure you that I don't have a mansion Flakey, but I do have a large dining table that sits 14- however, I will run with your eight person limit.
This is tough. I would go with the following eight forum members, but I am sure other names will come to me:
Harris - because we need someone to laugh at and, seriously, he is a pretty nice guy.
Roth - so I can see him explode and laugh my ass off when, sinister agitator that I am, I start taking shots at the efficiency of the US Postal Service while the braised short ribs are being served.
Old Cajun - because he's the Old Cajun, and also because I love gumbo and jambalaya and hope that he will bring some.
Cortez - because he makes me howl with laughter
Pipestud - because we both love horse racing
Bigvan - because I can't wait to see his face when I pass out the cobs to all the dinner guests and then open a communal can of Carter Hall
Brian & Pruss - I am counting them as one because I have seen no evidence that they are actually different people - nice guy(s)
Romeowood - because I enjoy his knowledge of tobacco and because I hope he brings along another 50 year old tin of Escudo with him

@peck, sorry you're not permitted any more!! I also love jambalaya, and would cook it (and hope to get it right) if the old cajun came to my dinner. Anyone with a 50 year old can of Escudo would of course be allowed to sit on my knee, 'Pipebabe' or not!! LOL

Flakey, I worked with the Jambalaya King, even helped him one year at the Festival, he didn"t win that year, is that an omen? The seceret to a good jambalaya is good long grain rice, your pork needs fat and chicken cut up in bite able pieces, good sausage also , preferably pork. Gumbo the seceret is the Roux, good brown roux and the real seceret is after roux is done , is add 1/2 your water and Roll Your Roux , fire on hot enough to roll it, for at least 1 hr.

Thanks for that tip! I've never rolled roux for even approaching that long. I can't wait to give it a shot.

@the old cajun, thanks. I've only ever eaten it on visits to New Orleans. I strongly suspect you might say that it could not have been authentic!! lol. Maybe I should do a sabbatical with the jambalaya King, or even better with your own good self - some of his magic must have rubbed off?? LOL
