Welcome aboard from central North Carolina, U.S. I have actually been to Kaohsiung, a beautiful little port. It was a "liberty port" for my minesweeper, and a really strange visit. Apparently I was busy in the radio shack and missed the talk on off-limits, so I spent a third of my time wandering the back streets and sidewalk businesses, and was mystified why none of my shipmates were at the empty bars I visited. I finally was intercepted by a Taiwanese minder who took me to tour a temple, and then I finally landed in the noisy bar/dance hall where my shipmates were sort of corralled. It was a strange liberty call. Either my ship's officers didn't know I had strayed or figured no harm done. There's more, but I think that's enough sea story for now. Welcome.
