Welcome from New Brunswick, Canada. My work took me to Texas a few times in the 90s, Austin, Irvine, San Antonio. Great places.
I'll be in Charlotte in a couple of weeks. The prodigal son is playing a chess tournament there. Love NC.

Which part of VA? I'm from Blacksburg, and have immediate family in Roanoke. Way back in the 1780s, my branch of our family came from Switzerland (via Philadelphia) and settled in Patrick County. Still lots of them there in the Stuart and Woolwine areas.
I know, too much information. ;-)
No matter where I live, the Blue Ridge mountains of Southwest Virginia will always feel like coming home to me. Best spring water in the world, too.

Just have to say, I'm not a person who "socializes" online frequently ... but I don't think I've ever received such a warm welcome from an online community. I think I'm going to enjoy hanging out here.
Smoking a pipe (or anything, really) these days can make one feel a bit isolated. Even like a pariah at times. It's nice to know that there are kindred spirits out there.
