Thank you all so very much for your generous welcome!Welcome from Virginia
Thank you so much!Welcome from Northern Virginia
Fan of Peanut Butter? When I first saw your handle, I thought of Josef Conrad...but that was "Lord Jim".Thank you so much!
Thanks again! So many creative and wise souls now long past really did show us the way by firing their briars and pursuing their talents and passions. Seemed so homey and comforting; both my grampa's piped as well ... but alas, I inherited none of their collections. It is a "rabbit hole" indeed, but I've left bread crumbs on the trail so I'll know my way back!Welcome!!! From Santa Fe, New Mexico. I too started smoking because of Mr Tolkien. And Gandolf a'course, with a good o'l churchwarden and some stuff called "Hobbits Friend" from the local tobbaconist. Now Im down a rabbit hole I don't see myself climbing out of lol. Gosh darn you Tolkien.
I was lovingly nick-named Sunny Jim by my Gramma and responded to it from my deepest memories. Seattle native!Fan of Peanut Butter? When I first saw your handle, I thought of Josef Conrad...but that was "Lord Jim".
Then I discovered that Seattle has a "Sunny Jim" p.b..
Welcome! And thank you for taking the time to read the rules! Many don't even know they exist! HahaHello all; glad to be a (small) part of the fellowship of pipers worldwide. I decided to become "more than a lurker" and join-up and post my initial introduction. My town I live in is North Bend Washington - a 45 minute drive due East from Seattle, directly into the foothills of The Cascade Mountains of The Pacific Northwest. I'm a founding member of The North Bend Pipe Club which currently consists of me and my next-door neighbor Adam!! ..."Quality, not quantity" is our membership mantra ;-) as we enjoy the benefits of smoking our pipes to good background music and quiet conversation. I've been smoking pipes (exclusively) since my first pipe in 1972; inspired while reading The Lord of the Rings (to be expected) and while only an occasional smoker all these years later, love it nonetheless! With this simple introduction I'll stop and say, "thank you for any sense of welcome offered, as well as grateful for your patience and kindness as I learn my way around your Forum". I've read your Rules as a 1st step and agree with them whole-heartedly. I'm not a strong internet presence nor a Forum personality; more a reader that a poster! Jim Gordon
Ha! Hello; and thank you for your welcoming response. As far as nearing towards May and the hopeful return to green and sunny days ... it is always darkest before dawn indeed! Truer words are not spoken: stand "hearty" ... you will be soon rewarded with a Summer we've all been patiently waiting for!! Ha ;-)Welcome aboard from the beautiful MN/Canadian border where we used to never tire of winter although now it is almost May and although still hearty we are weakening. It's a great place to hang out!!

Thank you for your welcoming spirit! I cannot imagine being a moderator of a world-wide forum! I do not want to imagine it, actually! Ha. It takes a special individual - I personally know well a (retired) moderator of The Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum ... and could clearly see the impact and responsibilities pressing him (he NEVER irresponsibly spoke/gossiped to me btw) but it was obviously ... a labor of love! Thank you for your service, regardless of my "newbie status". May it be rewarded richly - JimWelcome! And thank you for taking the time to read the rules! Many don't even know they exist! Haha
Thank you! I am feeling "welcome" indeed. What a picture of industrial pipes and smoke (from Dixie I assume) you posted! Do you work there, and what are they working on in that place? Thanks again, Jim
Cheers to New York City! Wow ... you must live quite a life! Regardless of where we hail from, a pipe smoke means so much!Welcome from NYC.
I forgot to answer your direct question!!! Yes, I do love Sunny Jim peanut butter!! PB&J sandwiches are still at the top of my list! Ha!!
