After a beautiful day at Panama City Beach, this storm rolled up.

Ok, since warren is keeping mum for now, I'll offer that this good capture could be made great with the cropping out o the umbrellas and whatever's in the foreground. It'd also move the center of the storm off the center of the image- often a good thing, but only trying different comps could tell you.

My apologies to any and all I've offended or simply irritated. I got out of bed to write this as I thought it important.

Somewhere along the line I find I have appointed myself as the arbiter of what is or isn't a "great photo". Not something I intended to do. I'm generally not that pompous of an ass. But, rereading some of my posts I see I've overstepped. I've morphed into a critic.

If a member shares a photo they the like, more power to them. So, I'm going to refrain from unsolicited criticisms/suggestions in the future. I was thinking entirely from a commercial photographer's standpoint in critiquing of another persons work. All "working" photographers do this and it is best done silently, to one's self. If I "like" or "love" a shot and you want to know why, ask and I will respond.

Again, my apologies. And now, back to a more restful sleep with that off my chesI, for

I, for one, am not offended at all by your comments. While reserving the right to do things my own way, I appreciate the time and expertise you are offering.

When first using Photoshop, I had a picture I was very pleased with and shared with my family. None of them are photographers, but each offered a cogent criticism which I proceeded to incorporate and the result was a much better picture. This maybe the only time I haven't bridled at "constructive criticism"!

I enjoy both the capture and the development aspect and find that I'm happier with my results then when I shot film and used pro labs for printing. I hope to keep learning and already know the value of stepping back from an image only to return and find out I've really overdone things!

Film sees light differently than digital. One needs to "see" in the medium being used. I didn't make the switch to digital until digital advanced to a Kodachrome 64 level. Then Kodak closed it's facility. I sometimes still miss Kodachrome. But, there is a place for both.

Dear Photogs: This is the "Great Photos" thread, not the great chat or discussion thread. Deleted some stuff.

Caring critiques and/or kudos for images welcomed.
