Time to get back on Island Time, Mon!
This pic was shot in the afternoon on Grand Cayman's public "Cemetery Beach" as the wife and I enjoyed rum and romance under the seagrape trees.
It could only be outdone by the shadows cast during sunset. Did I mention this was the PUBLIC beach? Not the groomed and pretty'd up beaches at the resorts on 7-Mile (not that those aren't damn awesome). Great snorkling here, too.
At Al Fresco (Grand Cayman BWI) you can eat delicious seafood which was caught about 50 feet away that morning. Honestly, it made any Calamari I have had since then taste like vulcanized rubber compared to the rich, tender and not at all rubbery pieces which were laid before us that night. We got it as an appetizer but I seriously could have ordered 3 plates and made a meal of it. I should mention the cost was about $12 a plate and it is cooked out of a resident's kitchen.
Then we got to see a hurricane pass in the distance as we ate. The little lizards that would scurry about the dining area, looking for scraps of fish, conch, squid and shrimp that may have fallen made for a show. My wife had been filled with trepidation that I had no made reservations somewhere for our anniversary dinner on the island. I actually said to her "O Ye of little faith..." before we got in the rental and drove out. Al Fresco requires no reservation, shirt or shoes. Locals eat there. I was officially THE MAN at the end of dinner. The food and view are world class. Eric Ripert has a restaurant on the island and I know it would have been good. This was better.
