I would like to try adding Perique to some blends. Which would integrate into a blend better, granulated or ribbon?
Did the cut ribbon integrate well?I've used both. With ribbon, I usually cut it up.
Like what? I've smoked it straight and rum soaked, no complaints.I've heard negative things about thr granulated
There was an old thread where some complained about the cut and the taste of it. I may order a tin just to see for myself, why not.Like what? I've smoked it straight and rum soaked, no complaints.
Well I was curious about other options that I may be unaware of.If you are just deciding between the two options, try both. Nobody on this forum can inform your preferences better than you...
You can also get perique in whole leaf form, which allows you to try all sorts of cut methods!Well I was curious about other options that I may be unaware of.
Yeah I've considered this also. Maybe use a coffee grinder or something to cut it. It's definitely temptingYou can also get perique in whole leaf form, which allows you to try all sorts of cut methods!
homemade versions of plugs, flake, ropes, cakes are very achievable...Yeah I've considered this also. Maybe use a coffee grinder or something to cut it. It's definitely tempting
I stand corrected for my comment. In listening to a Country Squire podcast from a couple years back John David Cole stated that C&D and Sutliff do different things with the perique they receive and there is a difference in tin note and flavor.I bought for homeblending the C&D granulated perique as research said granulated was easier to mix into a home blend. I still have the 2 oz can sealed as I have not used it yet.
Also, I may be wrong but I thought most or nearly all Perique was from Daughters and Ryan in St. James. So in my mind it did not matter as to the brand as they were getting it from the same place. Again could be wrong.
