Got my first pipe today!

There is no cure for PAD or TAD... both are relentless! Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a couple Missouri Meerschaum corn cob pipes, they smoke great and will give you a really inexpensive rotation while you are getting started.

Unfortunately I've gotten home too late to smoke tonight.....life of a EMT. So I will smoke tomorrow.
Hawk I got your samples today, thank you so much again. Are these English blends or aromatics?

those are both aromatics. if they were english blends, they would probably smell 'smoky' so to speak. 1Q is highly praised on this site and so is boswells. the sample from boswells is called pen dutch treat. this is from there site boswellpipes.com:
Pennsylvania Dutch Treat – Full and rich and superbly made with a Cavendish blend, along with burley with a pinch of cherry. Bursting with rich flavors and smoothness. One of J.M.'s favorites to smoke which he masterfully blended back when he was 20 years old.

I wouldnt give you an english for your first ry. use the pinch method to see if they need drying out. i believe they were pretty much ready to smoke when i sent them. for the pinch method, pinch a little bit together between your thumb and forefinger and if the tobacco sticks together, it is too moist. if not, its ready to smoke. a wet smoke will cause it to get hot and be unenjoyable. if too moist leave it out for 15-30 minutes and re check. it will probably be ready to go after 15.

I hope you read some guides before your first pipe, and even if you did you will still probably burn your toung! Don't give up you'll get better and the pipe becomes more forgiving! Welcome!

PA Soft Vanilla is not bad for what it is - an OTC aromatic.It's not goopy and has a decent flavor. Enjoy the journey.

I too remember my first pipe. I would kill to have that pipe back again. S&R "yard pipe". Enjoy the life long hobby you just picked up. Let us know when you start to feel symptoms of PAD and TAD. They will soon have a hold of you.

Smoking my first bowl as I type. Just realized I did not pick up any pip cleaners lol. Is it ok if I wait a day to clean it? Hawk this 1Q is great by the way!

You'll be OK without the pipe cleaners for a day, but I'd get some ASAP! While you're there get a Czech 3-piece tool and a couple of $3 wind caps.

Help with smoking outside when its windy. Glad you like the 1Q. If your B&M carries bulk blends, 1Q is probably one of them just uder a different name. Just ask.
