It really depends on the buyer. I prefer my old 17-18th century silver with patina. Most people prefer
shiny.
Even well polished silver will gain the patina back in 3-4 years so it’s not a huge deal. Problem is that many silver cleaning methods are considered abrasive and are often frowned upon by collectors.
