Never been in France :( at all. Though the clothing optional places here have taught me that being comfortable in your own skin seems to go along with other people not being comfortable seeing you that way. Like the 80 year olds are wearing sandals and the beauties are dressed like nuns.
I may be a large man but I've never had anyone shy away from me. I'm completely comfortable in my own skin. It is a little intimidating at first but once you see that no one cares you start to enjoy it. Try it sometime.

These days I use no bait or lures, just a sinker and bobber. That way I can sit and drink beer all day with folks thinking I'm fishing and not some old drunkl :sher:
We built our house 50 yards from our two-acre pond. I've spent more than one evening with a line in the water without bait, just me the pipe relaxing and enjoying not doing a damned thing.

Beautiful photos. I remember some decades ago, a good friend of mine suggested me to buy a fishing rod. We went to the seaport. It was really wonderful, the first time. It was very heavy, we thought it would be a good prize, and that we would make a beautiful barbecue with so much fish meat. In the end it turned out to be a fantastic, disgusting sack of shit and mud. And we went to eat a pizza near the harbor. But anecdotes aside, I like fishing, it is very relaxing. Although I have not practiced this activity for years.

I spend a lifetime fly-fishing for trout on small streams in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Moved to Louisiana last year.
I bought a paddle kayak in December and found I enjoyed it on the small lake opposite our house and on the bayous and streams around here. I upgraded to a Hobie pedal kayak a few weeks ago, loving it. Two big bayous are 20 minutes from my house and several rivers that all feed Pontchartrain. I'm catching spotted bass, panfish now, hoping to get into some redfish when it cools off.
Here on the Bogue Falaya on Monday and the Cane Bayou (plenty of gators here!)

The lake beside our house. It has panfish and crappie, some bass and carp. (So far, no gators...)

I've always loved to go after the big Blue Catfish and Crappie in the spring.

But once this summer heat sets in I put up my poles until next year.

In my neck of the woods when the summer weather hits the bite gets slow, somewhere around the first part of May.

I'm working back in PA this week. This evening, I'm staying in Chambersburg PA (weather is just incredible, what a summer evening).
This is Falling Spring, a limestone stream. It stays the same temperature all year round. This was one of my favorite trout streams. Very technical fishing and super selective trout. The largest brown trout I ever caught came from this stream, back in the 1990's. I'm glad to see it has been preserved.

I was a little disappointed to not find anyone fishing here on such a fine evening.

Well…… awhile back I got bit by the fly. The fly fishing bug that is. I love everything about it. My biggest issue is where I live. Not much trout water around. Other fly line anglers here fish for warm water species and shore fish. Out of convenience and for practice of casting I’ve gravitated towards a different species all together. The sciurus griseus, the western squirrel.
If I can get them to pick up the little piece of yarn tied onto the end of my tippet, it’s a catch. You’d be surprised how difficult it is to get one to do this. It’s pretty fun.

When I was fishing last week, I was under a tree, that had a rope swing. Sure enough, my chartreuse wooly bugger snags it about 6' off the water. I had to break the leader, so it's still there. I hope whoever uses that rope swing spots that bright green fly...
