Then yes, you should be able to find a pipe like one of those for your budget.Doesn't have to be by Peter Heeschen.

The usual spots: ebay and the site sponsors. One seems to have sold for cheap on ebay multiple times recently. You can search ebay completed listings for an idea of availability and price.
Uncle Peter's pipes went for around $650 when he was alive or at least that's what I remember. They look like they fetch around $500 now on ebay from reputable estate sellers.
I really wanted a Heeschen bent P very badly when he was still carving but I couldn't justify it with two young kids. I then lucked out about three years ago and found one on ebay with really bad photos which resulted in low ball bids. It's now one of my prized possessions.
I don't know anyone else who does or did the bent P shape.
Those are some beauties. I thought the same thing when I saw GLP's article that mentioned them.
From Greg's site-
"These pipes are a little special. The two were cut from the same piece of briar, and are as identical as two pipes can be. These are special "Tasting" pipes that I use when comparing similar blend prototypes..."
Doesn't sound like he'll ever be willing to part with them. Dang.
This is a great saying. He probably hyped them off the shelf.
