Greg was and likely still is very knowledgeable about pipes and their construction. In my opinion he never 'hyped' anything unworthy of being promoted. And he was and likely still is an artist and a creative old soul, so much of his description involved elements of romanticism and poetic license. Not inappropriate in my view, and generally welcome by most.

Peter was a very classic pipe maker, in the business before artisan pipes became popular. And he was a very generous, genuine and good man with an incredible talent. He is likely the most represented carver in my collection. Keep your eyes out and you will still find his pipes for sale, some unsmoked.

And, you can find a talented artisan carver or two and get to know them and commission a pipe if you can; many will come close to Peter's work.

If you are just looking for something similar to them you have some chance of getting them. You could ask a carver to make one for you.

I read Sykes' obit and Heeschen seems to have been one of those multi-talented men whose pipemaking skill happened to be part of his joyful mix. He puts me to mind of Stanley Kubrick who summoned Spielberg to his side in England thousands of miles away to discuss, I think, "AI."

As busy as he is Sykes must have put Heeschen's friendship high to have devoted a day to enjoy his company.

The intersection of Pease and Heeschen could only result in pricy, rare articles.

For the record I think GLP takes great photos, and I have no issues with him whatsoever.
For those that may not have read the entire thread, I did indeed have a similar pipe made. See pics on bottom of page 1.
It’s more of a tribute piece than an exact replica, and I eagerly await its arrival.
