Korea food is very popular especially with the popularity of Korean fusion. I LOVE Korean food and cook it regularly for my family. I’m still looking for a nice ajumma to adopt me or at least let me watch her cook and I will be glad to wash the dishes, lol.
Well, I can either take it or leave it.
The Korean BBQs are great, however. There's 2 that we particularly enjoy, one is a beef BBQ, the other is pork. We use them pretty much every week.
There was a great spicy beef noodle joint in town too, but unfortunately it shut and we haven't found one to replace it yet.
Shabu-shabu is another great meal. Although I prefer the Japanese style as it uses an individual pot, were the Korean style uses one large community pot, so you better like what everyone else likes, as they start dropping in sea-cumbers!
Here's a photo of me & my Ajumma, Christmas night 2021 outside on our deck.

We had a similar experience, with young college men. My daughter went to Franciscan University in Steubenville. A number of her male friends were "Pre-thes' (studying for the priesthood). One Spring break, a car wtih five of these guys heading home to Virginia broke down near our home. We took them in, including my daughters two female classmates who had planned to stay with us. With eight college kids in our home, we had a blast. They were all helpful with chores, neat and respectful (as one might guess from dudes aiming to be priests). It's a great memory we have of her college years.

She is still friends with all of them, but sadly, only one made it to the priesthood (they can't afford to pay back the college loans, without getting lay jobs, then females intervene with gods plans....) All great men now.

When I cooked which was almost always, the wife(now ex) and the kids cleaned. I didn't lift a finger. Now when a care giver or my son cooks I don't lift a finger and they clean up.

Fascinating! My first wife was Chinese from Peking and would never let anyone near the kitchen, maybe you might be allowed to help dry dishes if we didn't have guests. As a special treat if she was late coming from work I would be allowed to set up the rice cooker. The asian culture, you just have to love it!
My wife is Chinese. Hasnt done any, and I mean ANY, housework in 30 years, and almost no cooking. Her bedroom is literally piled 4 feet deep on the floor with clothes. Years ago I asked her when she was going to start cleaning up her trash. She told me if I dont like it I can leave. Not to mention that hot asian temper....

Some "bad" character is actually not knowing other people's situation, so they look rude or slovenly when they are preoccupied with their problems
Fundamental attribution error?

The tendency to attribute another's actions to their character or personality, while attributing your own behavior to external situational factors outside your control.

Nice! 👍 👍 👍 Asian culture is, I'm not sure whether it's the Asian culture or not, the kitchen rule is, "If you can't help with the cooking, at least help to clean the dishes.". My wife and I are always the ones cleaning the dishes, coz my mom and my brother can cook way better than us 😄

Over here in Germany a guest is pretty much expected to be a guest, he's allowed to clean his plate and glass and nothing else. He is to be served with good food, drink and company. Dirty dishes will be taken off the table into the kitchen, by the host, and left there until everyone's gone so the hosts can accompany their guests.
If the guest stays longer, maybe over night,
the king will accompany them while the queen gets her castle in order. Of course the genders will stick together, a woman won't stay in a room where two men talk, she'll go to the other female who happens to be in the kitchen.

When there's a gathering at my mothers house I kinda feel obliged to at least collect the dirty dishes and bring them into the kitchen. But she won't accept anyone in the kitchen before the serving, not even my sisters.
Try to pull that "dish collecting" shtick with my grandmother, she'll rip you a couple of new ones and tell you to sit the fuck down to mind your own business.

One even proclaimed me as an Evil Corporate Monger.

Puffy
Reminds me of how in the mid to late 90's so many movies had the plot line corporations are evil. Not to comment one way or the other on that idea, but those movies are made by big corporations and not just the movie studios but many parts of the production (hey corporations are destroying the world, oh and don't forget to buy Coke... this message brought to you by a gaggle of corporations).
Sure maybe you are that and maybe not, but the school is part of that whole system and trains the next batch of "Evil Corporate Mongers".
Or file under life is messy complicated and it's kind of impossible not to be a hypocrite sometimes. Or one of those little things that amuses me, because I could be morose or I could laugh about it.

They implied that SOME corporations are evil. I don't think there was a single movie from that era that proclaimed that ALL corporations are evil. There was one that I can't recall the name, that came out in the early 2000's, that showed a world where corporations took over the government, but that was the only one that I recall making a blanket statement.

I'd say that it was such a standard trope and the fact that the exposition often didn't go far beyond one or two statements showing the heartlessness of the corporate stooge, that to my interpretation they're basically implying they don't really have to tell you that hard these guys are evil and bad.

College kids in S. Korea used to call the summer "demonstration session". I don't think they as active now as they used to, but back in 60s and 70s these demonstrations we're massively. Police and students crashed very often and becoming rather bloody. Students asking government reform, more freedom and what not. There was a time US wouldn't deal with S. Korea. Guess what those kids are doing know days? They are all freaking politicians.

Well, if it is the " anything goes" section (which it never has been as far as i can see) you will perhaps not mind a dissenting opinion. I mean you are not the thought police are you? Some of these posts border on longstanding misogyny. Not necessarily the kind of welcoming approach that I thought was the hallmark of this particular forum. Perhaps a name change to the "He Man Women Haters pipesmoker forum" might be in order. Makes no difference to me what others may think of my post and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Take care...

The scariest thought i ever had was realizing that all the kids i knew are now thee establishment and that the pattern goes way back. Also that parents are just people that had sex.

So you don't like my post. No big deal. Now you know, so buzz off. There is nothing regarding men hating women. It's you trying to see it that way to fit your ideal.

Now you see what you want to see, and understand that this is not your cup of tea, don't read my posts. It's simple as that.

Or do you have some impulse problem from not seeing what you don't like?

I sent 2 of my kids to my Alma mater, Stanford University and I watched firsthand how they morphed from contributors to Society, to liberal minded individuals. One even proclaimed me as an Evil Corporate Monger. I kept writing the tuition checks but I don’t donate to the school anymore. I know this is not an isolated case.

Kids---i.e. humans with little life experience---rely on emotional reasoning until the real world kicks the door in and introduces itself.

The only grown-ups who think that way are either limited TO it for cognitive reasons, or pretend to in order to further their own objectives.
