I encourage you to first educate yourself about cigars in general, that way you can shop and buy armed with knowledge. To that end, allow me to recommend two books:
1. "The Ultimate Cigar Book" by Richard Carleton Hacker. This book is in its Fourth Edition and will tell you almost everything you wish to know about cigars. Chapters include;
"In the Beginning..."
"Cigar Making: From Seedling to Cigar"
"Finding the 'Perfect' Cigar"
"The Ritual of Lighting" "The Etiquette of Smoking"
"The Secrets of Successful Cigar Storage"
"Cigar Accessories: The Aftermarket of Smoke"
"Spirits and Smoke"
"Celebrity Cigar Smokers"
"International Compendium of Cigar Brands"
"Cigarspeak - A Dictionary of Terms"
2. "The Connoisseur's Book of the Cigar" by Zino Davidoff. From childhood Mr. Davidoff lived and loved the tobacco business and fine cigars in particular. Here's a
link to an article by Katja Gnann which details Mr. Davidoff's background and career, and which appeared on February 27, 2009 in the online cigarjournal.com. As for the book, chapters include:
"The Know-How of the Smoker"
"Choosing a Cigar"
"Keeping Your Cigars"
"The Gotha of the Cigar"
I hope that you find this information to be helpful as you begin your cigar journey.
Good luck!
