Pipe Dreamer and Star Gazer
It was a joke told by a comedian- and anyone in the audience offended by the joke so much so that they need to slap someone on national television and ruin the show for those receiving awards, producing, or working to put it on, have a screw loose. We can laugh at Hollywood and I’ll state that there are weird people definitely working there. But a lot of decent people work behind the scenes and for them, production work is their livelihood. Don’t like the joke, raise your objections in a manner that does not impinge on the work being done by everyone else. That’s my two cents.

Well said. My wife and I were extras for 5 days on an episode of Chicago Fire. I was surprised by the number of people working behind the scenes. It was an interesting 5 days.

It’s a Hollywood show with ratings only a fraction of what it used to be. What do you bet it was all a set up, to get people to care about it again? It certainly seems to have worked that way.

We live in a hyper-real postmodern wasteland after all. It is hard to be wrong by being too cynical these days.

I don't normally keep up with celebrity stuff so I learned about the incident today, from my wife, after work. I watched an unedited clip shortly thereafter.

I learned a couple things from the incident;

1. Chris Rock can take a lick.
2. Chris Rock is a better man than I, because I woulda punched back and spent the next 15 minutes really telling some hard jokes about the both of them.

In all seriousness, I get that he was mad and wanted to defend his wife's honor, and I would too, but in context... the dude is a comedian making a light joke at a celebrity event. Smith's reaction seems a little over reacted, especially for a dude that let's other fellas bed down his ol' lady.

Side note, I'd like to see Smith & Rock cast as Batman & Robin respectively, just so this meme can get worked into the film. ?

That was alot to say for something I could care less about.

The guy's defending his wife. Chris Rock should have used his brains. Will Smith should have used his as well. But I'm not going to fault him for defending a loved one.
He apologized to the Academy and to the audience, live and remote, for his actions.
Now the weaselly Academy Board is meeting to discuss stripping him of his Oscar. They should just let it go.

I have to admit, I don't watch the Oscars, and don't really watch many movies anymore, so this story kind of flew under the radar for me until they were talking about it at work.

What's your take?

Lets try to keep this on topic please ?
Te replay seemed fake to me ...anyone else notice they were both smiling and laughing ?
