Picked up two tins with 22A061 and 22A021. I’ve looked around and can’t find a cheat sheet on deciphering date codes. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, litup.
Front tin art has different codes entirely...
  • 002C021 on tin art front could be 2/2000
  • 022A021 on tin art front could be 2/2002
These are tins of Century which I understand are made infrequently. Man, I must be nuts to care about this.

Century was first released only 2-3 years ago, iirc, so those dates don’t sound right. I’ve seen it hit the markets (in the US) only a couple of times since then so probably you should just assume they are from either 2017-18.

Not much info out there that I could find.

I recently popped open a tin of Best Brown that I know was around 20 years old.

There were two codes on the tin ... one ended with "01" and one with "02".

I figure, if either one is right, it's the last two number that tell the year.
THIS IS ALL JUST GUESSING BASED ON THE AGE OF MY OWN TIN.

I have one tin of Germain's Century; its codes are 022A021 on the top & 22A021 on the bottom label:

I purchased it at my local tobacconist on 18 May 2018; it was on the shelf for less than a week. I suspect that it was manufactured in early 2018.
I think that all Germain's & Esoterica code's terminal 3 digits represent, not the month & day, but the numerical day of the year.

The 021 would be 21 January, & your 061 would be 2 March.

Thanks for the info gang! The tins look way too new for ‘00 and ‘02. I’ve looked at cossackjack’s info and 021 makes sense however, 061 being March 2 seems a little fuzzy to me. 8O

If the terminal 3 digits represent a serialized calendar day, where 001 would be 1 Jan & 365 would be 31 Dec (Julian non-Leap Year calendar), then 061 would be the 61st day of the year, or 2 March.

Like this...

This is all supposition.
