The autopsies usually happen within days*, but the lab tests take time. Unlike NCIS, most government agencies don't have Abby Sciuto waiting to jump on the next case.

* - Sometimes it does take a couple of days for the coroner to prepare a full report, so it's worth listening for the phrase "preliminary results" when you hear media reports. The coroner may find something when preparing their final report that was not obvious before their final review of the data.

I’ve seen autopsy usually done within 3 days.
They are horrid to watch.

The only gun I’ve ever shot that left my shoulder a bit sore was my grandfathers 10 gauge single barrel coach gun. I never met him as he died when my mom was a young girl in the 50s but it was nice to shoot the gun he used to clear varmints off the farm. Anyways my cousin has the gun and it’s been well maintained over the seventy or eighty plus years it’s been in the family. It knocked my ex wife on her ass when she shot it. I laughed then and I laugh even more when I think of that moment haha

It turns out that Godzilla isn't as big and mean as we were led to believe for all those years.

He was some guy's trained pet.

Meaning in those documentary films made about him trashing cities, the buildings were just miniatures made of cardboard.
