Interesting article you linked to number6. That confirms a few things I've read lately on the subject. I'm not anti-oil by any means. I've made a good living in industrial screen printing which completely relies on the oil industry. We print on Lexan polycarbonates, polyesters and Vinyls -all derivatives of petroleum. It just makes me pretty sick to see people suffering because of the high fuel prices and then here about the record profits by the big oil companies. The end of the article talks of hope for the future once our supply and demand infrastructure is brought up to where it needs to be. I hope it pans out that way.

from a recent Readers Digest article:
Oil is Not Running Out- In 1970, there were 550 Billion barrels of oil reserves in the world, and in the 20 years that followed, the world used 600 billion.

So by 1990, reserves should have been overdrawn by 50 billion barrels. Instead, they amounted to 900 billion-not counting tar sands and the oil shale between them contain about 20 times the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia. Oil, coal, and gas are finite, but they will last for decades, perhaps centuries, and people will find alternatives long before they run out.

$3.51 in South Texas and they store clerk said it might go up during the weekend. Funny how gas prices seem to go up right after pay day.

I'm saving up for a bicycle. And then a motorcycle with all the gas money I'll be saving lol
This is all BS.
In about 5-10 years hopefully the electric cars will be cheaper and we can easily switch to em.
Until then, buy a smaller car or quit using gas altogether. If it hurts so much sell your car, get a bike lol
There's always a solution. Find it.

Dervis, what year Ram have you got, and how is it in terms of milage? I've heard the V8 Hemi gets better milage than the 4.7l V8 in my '03 Dakota, and with the wifes car paid off next month, its very conceivable that I will upgrade pretty quick.
My '04 Durango 5.7L V8 Hemi gets about 16 mpg. Dodges NEED mid-grade or higher gas, though, to avoid injector problems. It's a great engine and a great truck. My Dad said that's the best Hemi available.

I paid $3.69 per gallon today at the BP. Cost me nearly $33 to fill up my standard transmission Corolla. Fortunately it gets great gas millage

It's $4.37 a gallon down the street from me, too.
As usual, it always hurts the folks who don't have much money the most. I've pretty much stopped all unnecessary driving because of this, so since I barely ever drive farther than 3 miles at a time, I just have stopped caring about the price of gas ... all it does is piss me off.
On a somewhat related topic, I was surprised to see an electric car recharging station put in the parking lot of my town's Walgreens and Safeway. I sure would like a fully electric auto.

I though fracking only released natural gas. Besides, in Ohio, they have been having earthquakes due to fracking. Thanks. I like my house the way it is.

Fracking has nothing to do with the price of gasoline, but maybe his vehicle runs on natural gas? :?
Also the earthquakes are not just in Ohio and I don't want to set my shower on fire with a lighter, hah

Not in my backyard , not in my backyard . Hey where did all the jobs go ? Cant build nuclear power plants ,cant build coal fired plants ,cant build chemical plants . No pipeline from Canada for me . You want to drill for oil where ?Cant drill off shore unless you are in super deep water . Cant drill off the east coast or the west coast .

Steel is dirty and yucky . That big factory smokes .Save the spotted owl .Tear down all those dams so the fish can spawn . No hydro electric for me. Chemical plants stink and insecticide kills the pretty birds .Coal mines are evil , big oil is evil , Corporate America is evil . The caribou migrate through here once a year .The pussification of America . Hey what happened to all the jobs ?

Adam as for the fracking there is serveral oil feilds that the only way to the oil is to frack in to it.

Theres one here 20 miles from my house that would pump 35,000 to 40,000 barals a day but its all stone ground as part of the land was a gravel pit only way to the oil is to frack and the feds wont issue the permit to do it.

Here's what I want to know about electric cars: what happens to your power bill when you have to charge your car every night? I just can't see saving money at the pump just to send it to GA Power! Running the AC costs a fortune - what about plugging in an automobile?
And how is using more electricity - which is made through various methods, including the use of petrochemicals - any better for the earth? And do cars get EnergyStar ratings like my refrigerator and dishwasher?
