I found a number of old empty tins of this when I was cleaning out my aunt’s home in Northern Ireland. They were tobaccos that my grandfather smoked regularly.
Do any of you know if there is a reasonably accurate copy of this available today? Damn, but you would have to be as old as I am to remember it.
Thanks in advance to you if you can suggest something!

Just a suggestion; maybe a waste of time or an interesting adventure (?) : Try contacting Cahills of Limerick the oldest tobacconist in Ireland ??? Per the youtube video she seems to have a lot of jars on the shelves...maybe she has some or knows of something close ? The website link doesn't seem to work but they seem to have a twitter page if you have twitter. Might be worth a phone call or letter or email on a rainy day. She blends tea too !

@edger, which tins were they, flake or the rubbed out?
Rubbed Out was my favourite, strong & slow burning, heady & with a subtle sweetness....ridiculously good smoke! Unfortunately nothing even remotely similar nowadays. The strength, leaf quality & flavouring of the old school British & Irish blends just aren't about. As good as Gawith Hoggarth, Germains etc are they still fall short of & are nothing like Gallahers RDH.

Having said that though, it's not all 'doom & gloom'. You can still find an 'old school' vibe with the tobacco that's available today. If I remember rightly, like me you're found of your bantam bowls? If your grandad was where you are now, sat in the states I reckon he'd be smoking 3 P's in a bantam bowled falcon & more likely than not he'd be happy with that. So that's what I'd humbly suggest to you mucker, 3 P's in a falcon. ?
Gawith's Plugs are even better but you might struggle to get them where you are. Those Cascadia Plugs you can get in the states are pretty good too & might be worth a try. Even better still, ask your family in the auld country to send you over a plug of Yachtsmans from Fox's in Dublin.

Thanks! I have a ten year old 3 p’s plug that I haven’t opened. Didn’t realize it would meet my Ulster codger tastes. Love me my Falcon Bantams and thanks for remembering. You are a mensch!!
