Wow! This is a such a cool project! This is why online communities like this are so awesome! :) I'll start off with a little background as I am new to this hobby. I grew up around my grandpa smoking a corncob pipe full of Captain Black ALL the time. That smell was WONDERFUL. I have not until recently smoked anything for the last 5 or so years because I used to smoke plain ol' ciggarettes and quit cold turkey. The whole reason I got interested was because an old friend I was in Boy Socuts with back in the day came over, and offered me a chance to try it out. I loved it. So much better than smoking cigarettes! I felt absolutely no need to inhale, but instead to just relax and enjoy a pipe, in peace. My friend comes over and let's me try out his different pipes, and after a long day of fixing peoples PC's it's a wonderful escape. Currently, I own no pipes, but am about to start making one out of a piece Bois D'arc my dad harvested originally for a longbow when I was a kid. I like woodworking and have been looking for something to get me motivated and back in to the shop so I can also think about my other project, which is an acoustic guitar I built lacking a neck, bridge and action. I have come to the realization that I can enjoy something without is becoming an addiction.
All that being said, I am interested the free pipe project! :} Shaintiques, I think what your doing to support what's a wonderful hobby is awesome. Please consider a lowly newb like myself:)

Thats all the photos The issue was that I was putting the URL in the pop up window and it was converting to one line in the post. once I put the two lines of the URL in the post the pics came right through. Thats a load off my shoulders.
Thank You Again,

Lamont

I finally just checked my private messages. I had some family medical issues but all is well now. I just hope I didn't miss out. I've really had a great time smoking my pipes especially when out fishing cob style:)

Wow. Had a little look through this thread and I must say, what amazing generosity towards relative 'strangers' on the internet. This project is a real testament to the community. For purely selfish reasons it is disappointing that you are based across the pond but, nevertheless, this is a fantastic way to give beginners a leg up.

Feel free to exclude me from consideration for this project,I've recently obtained more pipes and would rather have someone who has less,be able to receive a wonderful gift like this.

I for one would love to see the Cthulhu idol when done.
I hope he will accept my sacrifice, and I will die early, spared the unspeakable horror that the rest of humanity will face.
Lovecraft is one of the best metaphorical writers out there... matched only by William S. Burroughs.

Here is a link to my pipes, say what you will but I like that old cracked meerschaum and the way it's changing colors. The white one...still not sure what's with it. Was 3 dollars and seems like it may have been painted and not sure what it's made out of but....can't smoke it. Sadly right now embarking on the process to try and clean the others. Only ones that didn't sour was the two cobs.....haven't been able to smoke much lately. Have been told, that because I smoke too much it may have been the cause, without allowing them to rest.

What a great project and community of people. I have been smoking a couple of cobs since early spring. What a great way to relax. Even my wife enjoys the time spent just sitting out in the evenings with me while I smoke. Though this is my first post, I have enjoyed this forum and have learn so much over the last several months.

I've been using Prince Albert and a couple of other drug store tobaccos. I started off with a ebay pipe but that was a bust. That's about the time I came across this forum and went in and bought a corn cob. The learning curve would have been much easier if I had started here first. Lol. I would be very grateful if I could be added to your list. And I would love to return the favor when I am in a better position.

Ghoststone, you cannot beat a corncob to start with as you can abuse the hell out of them and they do not cause a fortune. as you can see I received a fantastic package a while back and am enjoying the different smokes I have not opened any of the tins yet but next week I will because I will have used up one of the bulk bags. I have a corncob that I take with me everywhere when I am out doors fishing and about town and do not worry about loosing it. This is a great project, keep you eyes and ears open and there is a load of information that can be gleaned to make you better at this hobby. i am still learning and an not give you much more than two thumbs up and keep it going.
